A wee sherried Longrow

Halò Single Malt Mates,

Cambeltown used to hae mony distilleries!! Noo, the region has only three.

By 2010 only three distilleries continue to produce whisky in Campbeltown: Springbank, Glengyle, and Glen Scotia. The Springbank distillery produces three distinct whiskies; Springbank, Hazelburn, and Longrow.

Longrow has produced a brill sherry it seems. I loes Cambeltowns and I loes sherried whiskies. Oh Joy

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Very fruity! Toffe apples, pears and strawberry chocolates, in the background; salted popcorn kernels mint leaves and honey.
Palate: Salty and coastal, the fruitiness continues with raisins, chocolate orange and prunes. A dryness develops with demerara sugar and digestive biscuit.
Finish: Drying BBQ spices; cayenne pepper and paprika followed by cinnamon sugar, oats, pecan nuts and the typical gentle Longrow smokiness.

You should try a Guid Cambeltown you might like it . Especially this one!

Benrinnes and sashimi

Halò Single Malt Mates,

My passion is pairing braw single malt whisky an guid food. It is well known that Single Malt goes great with seafood..

Single malt also goes well with chocolate. cheese, Chinese. steak, and many other foods.

It all depends on what you like.

As the wise man said, ” there is no such thing as bad whisky, only whisky that is better than others.”

Here is the star of the show:

Benrinnes
15 Year Old Flora and Fauna 43% 70cl

Details
Producer Diageo
Age 15 Year Old
Bottle Size 70cl
Alc. Volume 43%
Bottler Official
Region Speyside

Description
Located at the foot of the Benrinnes Mountain in Speyside. Benrinnes Distillery only really has one official bottling, and this heavily sherried 15 year old is it. Apart from that the majority of their production goes into blends such as Johnnie Walker, as the big and creamy nature of the spirit is loved for the weight it gives to a blended whisky.

Ths sashimi brought out the flowery notes and specifically oak notes in the tasting. It was very good…

Description
Only those that met a worthy death on the battlefield were marked by the ‘Valknut’ and taken by Odin’s Valkyries to the great halls of Valhalla to feast and drink; and to await the great battle of Ragnarok at the end of the world. This is the inspiration for Highland Park’s second release in the Viking Legends series, a slightly smokier release containing Tartan barley grown on their own shores of Orkney.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Toasted vanilla pods, cracked black pepper, oak shavings, cloves, aniseed, aromatic smoke.
Palate: Sweet, aromatic cloves join forces with tangy hints of aniseed.
Finish: Intensely balanced, bold and courageous, leaves a lingering memory of aromatic peat smoke and sweet spices.

Thoughts on whiskey: “Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough.” Mark Twain
