I loes Flora and Fauna expressions

Halò Single Malt Mates,

I have owned several Flora and Fauna expressions from different distilleries.
The nose palate and finish are exquisite.

Here is an AUCHROISK expression.

This is the sole regularly bottled expression from this modern distillery, built in 1972.

It looks like a guid dram!

Thoughts on whiskey: “Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough.

I am gratified to learn that you enjoy learning about Scotch Whisky.

A wee new Glenlivet

Halò Single Malt Mates,

When I go to a Highland Games, I always like to bring along a wee guid dram that I can share with beginners.

Usually I get a Glenlivet or Glenfiddich 12 which are the cheapest best guaranteed age single malts money can buy..

However on a lark, I decided to purchase this expression this year.
Fortunately for me, everyone liked it.

Here is the expression:

The opening salvo of the Glenlivet range, named in honour of the distillery’s founder, George Smith. It’s classic Glenlivet, with a creamy and fruity character bolstered by the use of first-fill American oak to mature some of the whisky.

Facts

A complex dram that does even more than its name suggests. Matured in a combination of seven different types of oak – first bourbon and then a finish in each of Vosges, Jupilles, Les Bertranges, Allier, Tronçais, and Limousin casks. The result is spicy but run through with chocolate and fruit, thanks to wide range of flavours from the casks.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: An aromatic fusion of coffee, ginger spice and a hint of milk chocolate.
Palate: Caramelised peach, chewy liquorice and candied orange with a hint of sea-spray and smoke

Thoughts on whiskey: “Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough.

I would like to make a toast to lying, stealing, cheating and drinking. If you’re going to lie, lie for a friend. If you’re going to steal, steal a heart. If your going to cheat, cheat death. And if you’re going to drink, drink with me.

A wee Oban Distiller’s Edition

Halò Single Malt Mates,

The Clan Chief of Clan Inebriated loves this whisky.

Oban
2001 Distiller’s Edition 43% 70cl

Details
Producer Diageo
Bottle Size 70cl
Alc. Volume 43%
Bottler Official
Region Highland
Vintage 2001
Country Scotland

Description
Oban is a distillery much loved right across the globe. This release from Diageo takes everything from the standard bottling and dials it up with the added influence of Fino Sherry.

Tasting notes
Nose: Lots of light grains and sea spray.
Palate: Pears, brine and caramel. A great mix of salt and dessert sweetness.
Finish: Salted caramel comes through before fading to a lingering sweetness.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Outstanding. Fruity and pungent; sea salt with crushed grapes, orange zest and hints of smoke. Massively complex.
Palate: Most explosive Oban ever. Soft malt then wave upon wave of delicate yet rich fruit notes on a tide of brine.
Finish: Sweetened Jamaican coffee and oak, with an attractive malt-biscuit effect as it dies down.

This is a good dram. I shall buy one when I run out of the one I own.

Thoughts on whiskey: “Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough.

The bonnet, the plaid, the kilt and the feather.
