Halò Single Malt Mates,
Haakon is a name used by Norwegian Kings. The Orkneys were ruled by the Vikings back in the 1100’s. In honor of them, the Highland Park Distillery has issued this expression:
Earl Haakon 3rd Edition 54.9% 70cl
Age 18 Year Old
Bottle Size 70cl
An 18 year old Highland Park matured in sherry casks and what a very good whisky it is too. This is named after an ancient ruler of Orkney who ruled jointly with his cousin Magnus (who he then had killed after a falling out) (as you do).
Tasting notes from a similar Highland Park 18
Staff Tasting Notes
Nose: Apricot, orange oil, full oily notes, light peat note. Heather honey, blackcurrant jam. Each time you nose it, you get different layers of aroma.
Palate: Fruit jam, more apricot, hint of almond paste, slight oaky note and heather peat, but overall, just a juicy palate, with a drying sherried finish.
I loes Highland Park. This goes great with food and simply for sipping…
I hope you can try this…
“Whisky, drink divine!
Why should drivelers bore us
With the praise of wine
While we’ve thee before us?”
“Love makes the world go round? Not at all. Whiskey makes it go round twice as fast.”
Here’s tae the heath, the hill and the heather,
The bonnet, the plaid, the kilt and the feather.
A h-uile la sona dhuibh‘s gun la idir dona dhuibh!
May all your days be happy ones.
